Should I wait to get health insurance?

The answer is NO! Health Insurance is insurance to cover the costs of medical care.  Medical care can consist of preventive care (annual physicals), maintenance care, care for an illness or care for an accident or injury.  In many cases, health insurance has provided coverage in emergency situations, helping to reduce the out-of-pocket costs of the insured.

ACA Health Insurance

The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, more commonly referred to as the Affordable Care Act (ACA) was originally signed into law by President Barack Obama on March 23, 2010.  The ACA was designed to extend health coverage to millions of uninsured Americans, provide some coverage for certain essential services and provide coverage for those with pre-existing conditions.

Virginia residents were obtaining health coverage through the Federal Facilitated Exchange (www.Healthcare.gov). On NOVEMBER 1, 2023, VIRGINIA established their own state health insurance MARKETPLACE!!!  (https://Marketplace.Virginia.Gov) The Virginia state marketplace offers ACA health insurance plans with all the applicable ACA benefits available through the Federal Exchange!!
